This is a picture of a section of bark from a very old tree at the entrance to Capital Reef National Park, just outside of Tory, Utah.
The reason I bring it up is that when you go into this section of the park and see the tree it gave me the sense of you seeing a gift from nature that if it could it would tell such a story. You couldn’t help but stand, and lean into this tree, it character and texture so different from any other tree that was near by. You could see the scars of time and how the tree would heal those areas, very much like we humans do, some scars are obvious some are more hidden. But, like the tree we have the ability to heal ourselves. There are many avenues of healing one being essential oils, which come from nature. Essential oils come from the resin from of a tree, bark, a leaf, seed, rind, flower each can create an oil. For me it reflects again how we are connected to something sacred with nature, our bodies respond to this connection, this connection to Creation itself.
I love to bring about awareness of what is around us. Many of us have gone into auto-drive mode, where we really don’t see the world around us, we pass through it but are not making the connection. How many times have you driven somewhere and wondered how you go there? We tend to forget how sacred it is to make the connection to our surroundings. This article and more to follow will communicate this message.
Go for a walk today and listen to the birds, listen to the leaves gently moving together. Use all your senses to engage with nature today. Make a connection…..
